The Department of Science and Technology India (DST), through the Technology Development Board India (TDB), has signed an agreement with Gurugram-based KC Aviation Private Limited to support an advanced R&D project in unmanned aviation.
The project, titled “Boost Electric Jump Take-Off (BE-JTO),” focuses on developing hybrid propulsion systems to enhance the take-off capabilities of unmanned and light aircraft. The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the UK-based ARC Aerosystems Limited under the India–UK joint R&D program.
This innovative solution aims to enable short or near-vertical take-offs, significantly improving operational flexibility. It is expected to play a crucial role in remote connectivity, disaster response, medical evacuation, surveillance, and logistics operations.
A key component of the project is the establishment of a dedicated propulsion testing facility in North India. This infrastructure will support startups and developers working on next-generation aerial mobility technologies and help accelerate commercialization.
Rajesh Kumar Pathak highlighted that international collaborations like this are vital for advancing cutting-edge technologies and strengthening India’s aviation ecosystem.
KC Aviation’s promoters expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the project will enable real-world validation and scaling of their propulsion technologies.
This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s capabilities in unmanned aviation and sustainable air mobility solutions.
