: In a significant move to strengthen India’s healthcare quality framework, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and the Uttar Pradesh Pharmacopoeia Council (UPPPC) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance pharmaceutical quality, medical device standards and regulatory excellence.
The agreement was signed during the YEIDA MedTech Investors Meet & Site Visit 2026 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
Driving Quality and Innovation
The collaboration seeks to build a stronger pharmaceutical and medical device ecosystem by promoting quality assurance, regulatory compliance, innovation and institutional capacity building. It is expected to improve coordination among regulators, industry and academic institutions.
Support for MSMEs Through Digital Tools
Under the partnership, both organizations will strengthen compliance with pharmaceutical and medical device quality standards while promoting awareness of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance. MSMEs will receive digital tools for adverse event reporting, enabling faster regulatory reporting and better quality monitoring.
Training and Research Collaboration
The MoU provides for joint training programmes, workshops, stakeholder awareness campaigns and stronger industry-academia collaboration. It also emphasizes research, innovation and the adoption of advanced healthcare technologies to improve manufacturing quality and regulatory practices.
Patient Safety at the Core
A major objective of the partnership is to enhance patient safety through stronger quality assurance systems, post-market surveillance and evidence-based regulatory oversight. The initiative is expected to position Uttar Pradesh as a leading hub for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and healthcare technologies.
The IPC-UPPPC collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a globally competitive healthcare ecosystem driven by quality, safety, innovation and regulatory excellence.
